Winter 2008 hairstyles are all about colours especially colour highlights!
Color in your hair is something not only for just punk rockers and kids; girls all over the world follow footsteps of Pink adding not only pink but purple, blue and orange in their hair!
Mindy Cain, Styles' owner/colorist, is a great fan of the new trend and recommends this new approach to hair coloring to many of her Guests in our salon. “Color highlights give hair multi-tonal color with fresh, modern edge, bringing your hair to life with tones ranging from the subtle to the extreme.”
Is it for me? Stephanie recommends that blondes is the ideal base for this spring/summer color arrays. But why would blondes get all the fun?! Think about it, if your hair is rather dark you might not get these bright shades you are hoping for.
Your haircut is another thing to consider: the rule of a thumb says short hair like pixie may not look at its best with loads of highlights - in stead of spunky you end up looking like a spoted duck...If you have a short hairstyle apply color only to one section of your hair and color the rest with complementing tones. If your hair is medium to long, highlights, especially around the face can be very flattering.

Seen here, McGregor is sporting a faux hawk in his dark blond hair. This is a trendy look that is ideal for those with wide features who need to elongate the face.
The Style: After shampooing and conditioning, the hair should be sprayed with leave-in conditioner and styling product. At this point, you should use your blow-dryer and dry the hair, directing the airflow slightly upward and toward the front of the face as you go. Use a half-round brush to direct the hair in the center strip upward on each side as it dries. |

Shown here, Eric is sporting his very curly hair in a long-circle-cut style. This cut works well for men with thick, wavy/curly hair types in medium to coarse textures.
The Style: The cut is blown dry using a diffuser attachment after being carefully treated with leave-in conditioner and smoothing serum to help keep the curls smooth and frizz to a minimum. When the hair is mostly dry, you can use a wide-tooth comb to style the hair back from the forehead without breaking up the curl too much.
Lightly mist the hair with hairspray and use the palms and fingers to press and gently squeeze the hair to add definition and lightly scrunch the curls for maximum definition. |
